Changing Target CPA Value with Google Sheets

Hello,

I have a script which runs to chnage the target cpa for my campaigns pulling data from a Google Sheet, however the following error occurs;

Can't set a Target CPA bid on non Target CPA bid strategy types.

The campaign is set to Maximise Conversions (Target CPA).  Given we can no longer select the bid strategy type Target CPA, how do I get around this problem?

I would like to inform you that tCPAs or Target cost per acquisition (CPA) at the Campaign level is currently not supported in the Google Ads Scripts. You may only manage BiddingStategies at this entity level. Please see also CampaignBidding and Bidding - Strategy types for your reference. On the other hand, you may retrieve CPAs at the AdGroup level by using the getCpa() method. A request to retrieve CPA values at the campaign level has already been filed in the past so allow me to make a follow up on that for you. However, there is no guarantee if this will be supported soon in the Google Ads Scripts. Please follow our blog for updates and new releases in the meantime.

If not, is there a way to reduce tCPA for the weekend? I gather when using tCPA, adding a bid schedule adjustment no longer has an impact as per the below;

Hi,

Thanks for coming back. Allow me to explain further on Daniel's suggestion on this thread. I believe that by Campaign Level CPAs, he meant Bid Strategy Type - Target CPA rather than managing values for Target CPA. Please see Bulk upload - supported entities: Campaigns for your reference. With this, managing Target CPAs at the Campaign level is not possible via Google Ads scripts as of the moment. Moreover, reducing tCPA for the weekend through scripts is not possible. Please follow our blog for updates and new releases in the meantime.

On other hand, I would recommend that you reach out to the Google Ads Product Team for better insights on bid adjustments and ask if it is possible to manually bulk upload Target CPA values through the Google Ads UI.
