Hi -
I see a number of ways of accessing data outside of a script, such as via database or Google Sheet, but I'm not sure as to a best practice, and if it is common to process an account's campaign settings/performance and store the resulting data to persist until the next script execution.
Example: if I'm looking to examine performance of campaigns for an account with high conversions to determine which campaigns are performing the most efficiently (cost per conversion given the same objectives, such as a group of campaigns that provide qualified leads via form submission). How best would I store the analysis of the recent results so that I could compare the performance vs the last time the scripts ran, so I could have the script take some action based on performance going up or down?
I recognize that smart bidding makes this unnecessary for most of my accounts, but I do have one client with very high costs per conversion because it takes a large number of clicks to get one qualified lead (very expensive offering), and typical options like maximize conversions and TCPA just don't work. We're looking at other options, where possible, to follow the same logic I use when making manual budget adjustments.
- How would you persist data across script executions? (I want to know this regardless of the answer to my next question)
- Is my thinking on automating my manual review process a bad idea, or could you pros see where something like this makes sense? I want to make sure I'm not approaching the situation incorrectly.
Thanks in advance -
Chris
