Pause YouTube video placement video

I've been requested to write a script that pauses YouTube video placements under certain circumstances.

I've figured out how to pause the campaigns, ad groups and ads but I can't seem to figure out how to pause YouTube Video Placements via ad scripts. I can pause them in the Placements Tab in google ads, I can check their enables or paused status in Ad Scripts Log, but I cannot seem to pause them from there. There doesn't seem to be a method function to do so.

Do we have any alternative solutions to achieve the same desired outcome?

Thanks for the resources you provided.

I have read all these references and samples and they don't provide a solution.

I'm not looking to pause video ads, ad groups or campaigns, I'm looking to pause a video target placement for a campaign that is under performing whilst keeping the ads on.

The idea is to keep the ads running but only towards YouTube video target placements that are performing well.

The current method seems to be to manually pausing the YouTube video targets. Can you help me figure out a way to pause them via ad scripts?

With regard to your use case inquiry, I believe this is feasible and can be done on Google Ads Scripts. Below are the references that you need to consider in implementing your script.

• For pausing video ads, ad groups, or campaigns. There is a different selector for each entity level that you need to implement
  • VideoCampaignSelector: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/reference/adsapp/adsapp_videocampaignselector
  • VideoAdGroupSelector: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/reference/adsapp/adsapp_videoadgroupselector
  • VideoAdSelector: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/reference/adsapp/adsapp_videoadselector
• For under performing entity (whether it is on ad, ad group, campaign level), you need to add the stats (Impressions, clicks, etc,.) in your .withCondition() parameter. The links above contains the example where it filters out an entity with Impression greater than 100.
• Once you've implemented the selector, you need to call the .pause() method to pause an entity.

I'm not trying to pause ads or ad  groups or campaigns,

I'm looking to pause YouTube Video Placement Targets for individual Video Ads.

the VideoYouTubeVideo object is where I'd expect to see the pause() method, but it is not present there.

The only related methods are checking to see if they are enabled (.isEnabled()) or paused (.isPaused()).

Passing both methods a boolean argument doesn't change the status of the YouTube Video Target Placements.

The only other method that seems useeful which my client is happy with is .remove().

Hi,

I'm confused,

Is it currently supported or it isn't?

Because I followed the link you just sent me and I couldn't see the pause() method in the list of YouTube Videos methods.

It's 5:30am here and I feel like I'm going crazy because I'm not sure if you guys are telling me if it's possible or not and that it's me who can't make it happen.

Attached is my most recent attempt to pause YouTube Videos. The error comes back saying:  'TypeError: Cannot find function pause in object [VideoYouTubeVideo]'

Please, if you're saying it's supported please show me the line of code that makes it possible

To clarify my previous statement, pausing YouTube Videos is currently not supported in the Google Ads Scripts. I can file a feature request on your behalf in this case if you would like me to proceed.
