Hi,

One of our Google Ads scripts, a link checker, has been running for a few years just fine. Recently it started throwing errors because it's unable to access the spreadsheet. I have checked and verified that the account that runs the script also has access to the spreadsheet, so that is not the problem (the user running the script is actually the spreadsheet owner). I have found that this problem appears in other Google script platforms as well: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/156530211.

Exception: Service Spreadsheets failed while accessing document with id *id goes here*. at loadDatabyName (Code:454:29) at loadOptions (Code:492:10) at main (Code:229:17) at Object.<anonymous> (adsapp_compiled:20173:54)

I'd be grateful if you could have a look into this so we can solve the issue.

Best,
Luuk

Hi,

Is someone able to have a look at this issue?

Hi Luuk,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Ads Scripts Support Team.

If you're using the Link Checker solution, could you please try and re-create the script, use a fresh template spreadsheet, and see if the same issue would persist? We'd appreciate it if you could provide supporting screenshots to this as well as a shareable link of the spreadsheet (please see the guide below) for our investigation.

If this is not the case, kindly provide the following information for our team to further check this on our end:

You may send the requested information privately via the Reply to author option. Note that you may need to join the Google Group for you to use this option. If this option is not available on your end still, you may send it through our email (googleadsscr...@google.com) instead.

This message is in relation to case "ref:_00D1U1174p._5004Q2oikiY:ref"

Thanks,

I don't think this issue is specific for this script. Please have a look at other topics from other services that have the same error when accessing spreadsheets via Google Apps Script (I know it's something else than Ads scripts, but it still depends on the same API's): https://support.google.com/docs/thread/101741111/google-script-failure-service-spreadsheets-failed-while-accessing-document-with-id?hl=en.

I will try to make a copy of our script and the template and give it another go, but I don't think it will work. It has worked for years and now suddenly stopped working while we didn't make any changes.

After some digging I found that the issues lies within the applyLabel method, which is discussed in this topic: https://groups.google.com/g/adwords-scripts/c/LtyR8RC0HcY. We can close this topic here, I'll follow the other one.
