ad customizers for responsive search ads

Hi Google script team,

I am trying to create a script which updates the attributes of ad customizers.

While I understood how to change the values of business data feeds, I dont manage to do the same for attributes (RSA only, not the attributes of the feed).

To me it looks like this selector has not yet been implemented as RSA attributes are a new feature.

Can you either explain how to set values for attributues or tell when the feature will be supported by google script?

With regard to your concern, I'm afraid that Ad customizers for Responsive Search Ads are currently not supported on Google Ads Scripts. A feature request has already been filed in the past which is already in the works and will be supported in the beta soon. In the meantime, please follow our blog for updates and new releases regarding this.

Hi Richard,

If I'm not mistaken you should also be able to edit attributes/values for RSA ad customizers through scheduled bulk uploads. This way you can use your Google Sheet as a source and set the bulk upload to run once per day. If you need it to update more often, you could create multiple instances of the bulk upload set at different times.

Hi Mark,

That is correct for the creation of the ads themselves, but to my understanding Richard is trying to create/update the RSA ad customizer attributes. Those can be created and updated through bulk uploads, according to this documentation. I've already done this for several of my clients and it works perfectly.

This should help Richard while the said feature is still not supported in the Google Ads Scripts.

Hi Pascal,

thank you very much for sharing this idea with me. I was focused only on the script part which is needed because I ll get my values from another xml website. 

The script parser worked perfectly but I could not find a way to upload the data. If I combine both ideas I ll be able to solve the problem:

I ll get my data via the xml script parser and I ll use the bulk upload method to read the values into the Google Ads account.

From this sheet I want to upload the values

Attribute    Data type    Account value
EJP1           number       72


into the business data feed so that I can use it responsive search ads

The number 72 changes quite often, my script changes the number every hour.

I want to use the account value eg 72 in all of my RSAs throughout the account.

Which columns do I need to use? The first try (1st tab) ran through but did not make the changes. The second attempt (I used the suggested template for RSAs) is confusing because it says that the campaign and ad group is required.

I would not need it because I would define the values on account level. Is the  Custom parameter column really the same as the  ad customizers for responsive search ads in the business data feed?

Any help is highly appreciated.

I have problem with uploading RSA customizers. Everithing works fine, but when in source CSV document is empty cell, customizer value is not set to empty string, but this cell is ignored - customizer value is not changed. Is there way to set empty customizer value?
