Pause Adwords Express campaign via API

Hi,

is it possible to pause an Adwords Express campaign via API? If not, is there any workaround we might do to do so?

Hi Diego,

Unfortunately, you can only pause AdWords Express campaigns through the AdWords Express user interface. If you pause the promotion in the user interface, the underlying campaigns will switch to paused shortly thereafter.

Hi Josh,

Is there any way where we can check the campaigns appearing in the adwords account from the API ?  We have an adwords express account for which we are not getting data after sept 5, the campaign status shows "PAUSED". How do we check if the status is paused and if the data coming is for that campaign (in the dashboard and from the API as well) ?

Hi Phani,

You can check if the corresponding promotion in AdWords Express is paused by going to the AdWords Express user interface and navigating to the corresponding business. You'll then see the list of promotions, and each one will have a status slider at the bottom. For example, here's a screenshot of a promotion that is paused (INACTIVE).


From the AdWords API, you can see the status of a campaign via the CampaignStatus field of the CAMPAIGN_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. You won't be able to see AdWords Express campaigns in the AdWords user interface, however. You'll have to use the AdWords Express user interface to view AdWords Express objects.

If that doesn't cover your question, please pass along the campaign IDs of the campaigns in question, along with more details of what you've tried so far, and I'll be happy to help.

Could you send the following only to me by clicking Reply privately to author on this post?
  1. The customer ID (xxx-xxx-xxxx) of the AdWords Express account.
  2. The numeric campaign IDs of the AdWords Express campaigns.
Once I have that info, I'll take a look at your account to help figure out what's going on here.

Can you give me step wise procedure because I cannot see these campaigns in both express and adwords accounts. Any idea if this will change at some point? I'd like to be able to perform MUTATE actions on AdWords Express accounts via the API.

I had never even heard about this lack of API functionality until I kept getting this error when attempting to PAUSE/ENABLE AdGroups via API in an Express account:

I don't expect this to change in the near future, although we'll continue to support AdWords Express campaigns in reports.
