generateKeywordIdeas only returns seed keywords

Hello everyone,
I'm using generateKeywordIdeas(v19) and sending this payload:

Instead of getting new keyword ideas, the API only returns the original seed keywords with search volume and bidding info etc.

Is this expected?
If not, how should I structure the request to get new keyword suggestions (like in the Google Ads UI)?

Hi Jiří,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

The KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas is used to generate keyword ideas for a campaign. The primary purpose of this method is to provide new keyword suggestions relevant to the seed keywords you provide. But the historical statistics such as search volume data are returned to help you determine if you want to use the keywords for your campaign. I recommend you refer to this guide for more information. 

To help you with the reason why only the original seed keywords with search volume are returned in the response, please provide us with the "complete API logs" (request and response logs with request-id and request header) generated at your end.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.
