Is the KeywordPlanIdeaService fully compatible with the TargetingIdeaService?

We are considering migrating TargetingIdeaService to KeywordPlanIdeaService.

We are verifying the operation, but the data in the KeywordPlanIdeaService response to the TargetingIdeaService is limited, and we do not know how to satisfy it.

I have two questions: 

1. Is the KeywordPlanIdeaService fully compatible with the TargetingIdeaService?

2. if the answer to the above is yes, can you please tell me what request I need to send to get the exact same result?

Attached files are the request/response log that I am currently trying.

*Both queries are for the same "wimax 比較".

Thank you for reaching out. Please find my response to your questions below:
 

1. KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas replaces AdWords API's TargetingIdeaService.get with RequestType=IDEAS. These keywords can be added to your Keyword Plans for forecasting or obtaining overall historical metrics for your plan. A key difference is that the API no longer returns the original seed keywords in the ideas list. This means that if you were using this to get historical metrics for an existing list of keywords, you'll need to set up a KeywordPlan. 

 

2. You would need to follow this guide to generate the historical metrics for keywords via the Google Ads API.

Not only the original seed keywords, but almost all the keywords returned by the TargetingIdeaService API are no longer returned.

Please check the request/response log attached in the previous message.

I would like to know how to find out the cause and solve the problem.

Which of the following could be the cause? 

1. request parameters are missing or wrong.

2. need to call another API

3. other

I would appreciate if you could give me a specific answer.

The guide says: KeywordPlanService.GenerateHistoricalMetrics replaces the AdWords API's TargetingIdeaService.get method with RequestType=STATS

But I would like to replace is TargetingIdeaService.get method with RequestType=IDEAS.

Does generating historical metrics also change the response of "KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas"?

Thank you for the follow up questions. I work with Xiaoming and allow me to assist you for now.

The KeywordPlanService should mirror more what is being returned in the Keyword Planner than what is being returned by the TargetingIdeaService. That being said, could you confirm if your generate keywords ideas results have significant discrepancies when compared to the UI's Keyword Planner?

If there are discrepancies, could you share the complete request and response logs, with the request-id, and the complete Keyword Planner screenshot? You may send these details via the Reply privately to author option.

As for your other question "Does generating historical metrics also change the response of "KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordIdeas"?", generating historical metrics should not affect the results of your generate keyword ideas requests.
