Does Google Ads BusinessMessageAsset support Messenger or Zalo as message providers?

Hello Google Ads API Team,

We are implementing **Business Message Assets** via the Google Ads API (v20), and we want to confirm the list of supported `BusinessMessageProvider` values.

In the official documentation, only **WhatsApp** is mentioned as an eligible provider for Business Message Assets:

Specifically, the documentation states:

> “Business message assets on Google Search results pages function as click-to-message assets that connect users to advertisers on WhatsApp.”

And under creation requirements:

> “An active WhatsApp account associated with the business message phone number.”
> “The business message provider set to WhatsApp.”

We would like to clarify the following:

### ❓ Questions

1. **Does the Google Ads API currently support message providers other than WhatsApp**, such as:

   * **Facebook Messenger**
   * **Zalo**
   

2. If not supported today, is there any published roadmap or timeline for expanding Business Message providers beyond WhatsApp?

3. Should integrations for Messenger or Zalo be handled purely on our platform (i.e., stored in our own database UI) **without attempting to sync them as Google Ads BusinessMessageAssets**?

We want to ensure we follow Google Ads policy correctly and avoid mapping third-party messaging platforms to the WhatsApp provider enum.

Any confirmation or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

1. **Does the Google Ads API currently support message providers other than WhatsApp**, such as:

The Google Ads API currently supports only WhatsApp as the message provider for Business Message Assets.

Eligibility: The assets function as click-to-message assets that connect users to advertisers on WhatsApp.

Creation Requirement: A prerequisite for creation is having the "business message provider set to WhatsApp."

The API documentation does not list or mention support for Facebook Messenger, Zalo, or any other third-party messaging providers for the BusinessMessageProvider enum.

2. If not supported today, is there any published roadmap or timeline for expanding Business Message providers beyond WhatsApp?

 

Could you please confirm if this functionality is currently accessible within the Google Ads UI? If yes, kindly provide an uncropped screenshot of the UI interface. This will allow us to determine if retrieval via the API is possible.

3. Should integrations for Messenger or Zalo be handled purely on our platform (i.e., stored in our own database UI) **without attempting to sync them as Google Ads BusinessMessageAssets**?

 

Kindly note that the third party integration related concerns are out of scope for the Google Ads API support team.

Please note that business providers other than WhatsApp are not yet supported for creating business message assets using the Google Ads API. I will raise a request for this feature to be available in the Google Ads API. However, we cannot provide a scheduled timeline for the availability of this feature in the Google Ads API. I would recommend you to follow our Release Notes and Blog Post for future updates.

1. Could you please confirm which version WhatsApp will work with? Currently, I am on version 20?

Response: Please note that starting from version v19 of the Google Ads API, business message assets, having the business provider as WhatsApp, are supported in all the available versions of the Google Ads API. As you are using version v20, you should be able to work with WhatsApp business message assets. 

 

2. could you let me know how I can fetch the information for WhatsApp — what will be the query?

Response: Kindly note that this query is not very clear to us. Kindly elaborate more on it in order to explain what information you are expecting to retrieve using the Google Ads API. If possible, provide the uncropped UI screenshots of your Google Ads account highlighting the data which you are trying to retrieve.
