Verticals not available

Hi,

We're using scripts to automatically exclude certain verticals/topics for our video campaigns. We're importing the vertical list from the developers platform to make sure we always use up-to-date topic ID's:

https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/verticals.

This has always worked fine, until a while ago the list was updated. Now we noticed that not all topics that can be selected in the Google Ads Interface are available in the developers file. For example, Religious Music.

We were wondering why some topics are no longer present in the developers file. Is there a specific reason or is it just a mistake? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

We have updated the public verticals documentation with the newest list.

However, certain verticals are not available for user targeting, such as ones in the "Religion & Belief" category, and so aren't listed on the API documentation since they are not useful in that context. As far as I can tell, these have never appeared in the API documentation.

Thanks for notifying! Pretty sure they were available before since we've only started seeing errors recently for those topics. Could you eleborate why the "Religion & Belief" topics can be excluded from the Google Ads interface but not through the API? Thanks for your time.

Hello,

I'm not an expert in the UI, but there's a chance the context for these in the UI is different and it encompasses a different use case. They're not available for targeting, which is the only use case for verticals in the API, and so they're not part of the API documentation.

I looked back through the history of that documentation page and it hadn't included anything in the "Religion & Belif" topic ever. I'm not sure what you were doing before that was succeeding, but as far as I can tell nothing has changed.
