Hi, I'm trying to pull down placement criteria for a campaign. I have both demographic targeting and youtube channel placements (as targeting) on it. However the campaign returns only the youtube channel targeting criteria when I query the CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT by campaign id. I don't get any of the other demographic targeting information. Is there a reason I can't get all this together? Is it related to the report being single-attribution?

Thanks in advance for your help. I can send you the CID/CampaignId if you need it.

Hi Jonathan,

Your speculations about why it does not return other demographic data are correct. It is primarily because that Criteria Performance Report is a single attribution report. This means that, all statistics will be attributed to the criterion which AdWords deems most relevant. I would recommend using other reports that cater other demographics such as the Age Range Performance Report and Gender Performance Report

Let me know if you have further clarifications.

Thanks for the quick clarification. Do you know if there is a specific hierarchy that the CRITERIA_PERFORMANCE_REPORT uses to resolve the performance statistic attribution?

For example, it appears to me that youtube channel placement takes precedence over demographic targeting, but do you know if this will always be true? My goal is to use the report to programmatically determine if channel-level targeting was applied to a campaign or adgroup.

Hi Jonathan,

Apologies for the delayed response as I have discussed your question with the team. After the discussion, we have concluded that there is no particular behavior for the selection of criteria and there are no specific rules about this.

Hi Dannison,

Thanks for the update. Do you know if there's a logic behind how the ad network determines how to associate them in the first place?

Best,

Hi Jonathan,

My apologies as we do not have the answer of what business logic is applied for single attribution reports in choosing the criteria. if you want, you could ask the Advertiser's Community Forum as the product owner's might be of better assistance in answering your concern.
