Google Ads API

[Confused Dev]

Hi,

I'm trying to export some basic Google Ads data using the API.

I go to the OAuth 2 Playground, select the Google Ads API, click Authorize APIs. From here I am given an Authorization Code, a Refresh Token, and an Access Token. Clicking Refresh access token successfully generates a new access token. Using this access token I am able to call the Google Ads API and successfully export the data which is required.

Now I go into the Credentials screen in Google Cloud and create a new OAuth 2.0 Client. I go back to the OAuth 2 Playground use the Client ID and Client Secret to generate a token but now it says "Google hasn’t verified this app".

Is it necessary to complete the Verification process just to use the Google Ads API? If so, it seems like gross overkill to use an API.
