What is the unit of cpc in the Forcast generation?

Hello,

I am trying to use the keyword plan service with the Ads API following this instruction https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/keyword-planning/generate-forecast-metrics. Attached is a screenshot of my result.

Here is my question:

1. What is the unit of the cpc? I feel that it is really a large number. And I cannot use 500 when setting cpc_bid_micros, which will give an error message saying something like "the number should by a multiple of minimum billing unit". Does cpc_bid_micros=10000 mean 10 thousand dollars?

Hi Wang,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

The cpc_bids depends on how much you rate are you set. For example, if you set $0.25 USD as your max. CPC. If 500 people see the ad, and 23 of them click to learn more, you pay only for those 23 clicks. Your max. CPC bid was $0.25 USD, so you'll pay no more than 23 clicks x $0.25 USD, or $5.75 USD. Further investigate the issue, could you please provide complete API logs (request and response with request-id) so our team can further check.

Thank you for the reply. I understand the definition of CPC. My question is regarding the official sample code. The cpc_bid_micros is set to 2000000 which is really large (here is the link to the line). So how to interpret this "2000000"?

Thanks for getting back to us.

Kindly note that the all metrics such as metrics.ctr, metrics.average_cpc in reports with Money type are represented in the API as micros are returned in micro currency units (micros) in the API, and keyword_plan_ad_group_keyword.cpc_bid_micros is the same as the account currency code. An example that keyword level max cpc bid in micros 1MM equals $1, and 1 MM equals 1 million. To have the same cost as the Ads UI, you could simply divide the cost by 1000000. In your case, if keyword_plan_ad_group_keyword.cpc_bid_micros is 2,000,000 then it means 2 dollars.
