Geo targets download by API?

Hello

As for the geo targets here https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/geotargeting

although its handy to download it from browser,  is there an API to download the latest geo targets? as we need to automate refreshing our DB with the latest updates of geo targets.

Hi Samir,

Thank you for posting your concern.

I am afraid that there is currently no service or method that could return the list of geo target. However, allow me to raise a feature request for this, subject for review. But please note that this feature will be applied to Google Ads API as AdWords API will sunset on April 27, 2022 and we are no longer adding feature here. The advertisers / developer will need to migrate from the AdWords API to the Google Ads API in order to have uninterrupted service to the Google Ads product through an API. Please keep an eye out on our Developer blog for future announcements.

I appreciate your patience to this concern. I received an update from the team and let me share it to you.

On the Google Ads API, we have geo_target_constant which you can use to get the information that you are looking for. With this, I would suggest you to try migrating to Google Ads API.

Thank you for update, is the location targeting ids for both APIs the same? (AdWord and Google Ads) or there is another version of ids for Google Ads API that is different than ids here https://developers.google.com/adwords/api/docs/appendix/geotargeting ?

Thank you for sending your follow up question.

The list of geo target in AdWords API and Google Ads Ads is the same for now. However, if there is any updates in geo location, it will be reflected in the Google Ads API and you can see versioning of the file.

Also, you may see the updated geo targets using the geo_target_constant report as I discussed on my previous response.
