The latest version of the Geo Targets Download csv file (https://developers.google.com/static/google-ads/api/data/geo/geotargets-2023-08-21.csv.zip) contains a new entry for Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" which contains double quotation marks around "Eleftherios Venizelos" causing errors in our processes to parse the file.
Can this file be updated to put single quotes around 'Eleftherios Venizelos' while it is included within the values. ie name and Canonical Name.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Ads API Forum.

Upon checking on Google search, it appears that the name of the airport itself is Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos". This is why the new entry for Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" contains double quotation marks around "Eleftherios Venizelos". You may see below screenshot of search:

In addition, Google Ads UI also shows similar double quotations. I’ve pasted the screenshot below:

I hope this clarifies.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I follow what you are saying and how the data is defined.

CSV files such as this google geo targets download file, which surrounds values with double quotes and includes literal double-quotes in the values need to escapes these literal double quote values with a pair of double quotes ("") to format the records in the cvs file correctly.

Current Value:
"9041231","Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos"","Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece","9069538","GR","Airport",Active

Proposed CVS Value
"9041231","Athens International Airport ""Eleftherios Venizelos""","Athens International Airport ""Eleftherios Venizelos"",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece","9069538","GR","Airport",Active

Hello Team,

We are still encountering the formatting issue in the geotargets-2023-08-21.csv on record (line 64341) "9041231","Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos"","Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece","9069538","GR","Airport",Active

The comma together with the double quotation marks within the content of the Canonical Name value of this record is causing misalign of the columns when processing this csv file. ie. "Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece"

Replacing all instances of the double quotation literal when it is in the content of values with a pair of double quotes (""), when the file is serialized, will fix this issue.

Thank you for your continued assistance,

Bob

Hello Team,

I just noticed there is a 2023-08-29 version of the geo targets csv file available.

I have confirmed this version is not quite correct yet.

The 2023-08-29 version is: "9041231","Athens International Airport """Eleftherios Venizelos"""","Athens International Airport """Eleftherios Venizelos""",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece","9069538","GR","Airport",Active

The instances of double quotation mark have been turned into triple double quotation marks instead of pairs. The desired result would be "9041231","Athens International Airport ""Eleftherios Venizelos""","Athens International Airport ""Eleftherios Venizelos"",Decentralized Administration of Attica,Greece","9069538","GR","Airport",Active

Thank you for your assistance,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Sorry for the confusion, I responded yesterday but perhaps my message was lost.

An update to these files was published the the CSV files on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Can you check the page (here) and let me know if you have any other issues?
