No Gallery Ad data in reports

Hi,

My company trying out new Gallery Ad type, that apparently was just added.

But I struggle to get ads of this type using report (Ad performance) and API call. 

In the report, I only get ad id and ad group id for Gallery Ads, but no other information, not even ad type.

Is it a bug? Is there any way to get info for gallery ads?

Hi Artem,

So that I can discuss your issue with the rest of the team, could you provide the complete report definition together with the customer ID that you've used to generate report? You can provide it via Reply privately to author option? Please provide also sample ad IDs where you encountered the issues.

Hi Artem,

Thanks for the followup. I received your private response.

Upon checking your account I can see that you have 1 ad with the gallery ads. When I impersonate the report on my account, I was able to replicate the issue as the ad type and the headlines and other data for this type of ad is not provided in the report.

This said, I will discuss this issue to the team and rest assured that we will get back to you once I got updates.

Thanks for the patience.

Based on our discussion, this type of ad is so new that it is not formally supported in the API yet. With this reason, the data that you will get for this 'gallery ad' is very minimal.

I will file a feature request for this type of ad so that it will become supported in the AdWords API reports. Unfortunately, it is not guaranteed that this feature will be implemented soon. You can continue to follow our blog to get updates regarding this.

Are there any workarounds for this - since this ad type is not supported by reports? Any automated way to get info and performance data for gallery ads?

Hi Artem,

On the AdWords API perspective, I am afraid that there is currently no workaround to get the data of this type of ads.

However, you may try to the download the report for this type of ad by using the Google Ads UI that map to the Ad Performance Report. You may refer to this link (Ads report section) to know how to map the said report in the UI.
