Upgrade SSC to PMAX

Hi support team,

I have many SSC campaigns. I want to upgrade SSC to PMAX but only have a few campaigns to upgrade available.
I don't know why SSC campaigns can't upgrade to PMAX
Can you share more information about it?

Hi Thinh,

Thank you for raising this concern to the Google Ads API team.

Moving forward, it seems that this is specifically about the Smart Shopping campaign to Pmax Campaign upgrade. That said, you may see this blog post as it contains the details about the said upgrade.

Also, could you confirm in what way you want to do this upgrade? If it's in the UI or API?

I want to upgrade SSC to PMAX via API but don't find that API document.

Thank you for the reply.

Since you want to upgrade SSC to PMAX via API, you may note that as mentioned in the prior updated blog post , users will be able to self-upgrade in the UI starting April 2022 and Developers will be able to self-upgrade in the API before the end of June. Moving forward, if you still want to check ways to upgrade, I would recommend you to check this blog post and go to the “ways to upgrade” section. Let me know if you have additional questions.

I tried query for get information campaign information about performance max upgrade but I don't find information it.

campaign.performance_max_upgrade.pre_upgrade_campaign,

campaign.performance_max_upgrade.status,

campaign.performance_max_upgrade.performance_max_campaign

Can you check API request in attachment file and requestId 3sPAJhXtK2NEMHUS6qEa9Q.

Moving forward, For our team to further investigate why you don’t find any information with your query, could you please provide to us the complete API logs (request and response with request-id) generated on your end so our team can further check it?

Thank you for getting back to us with the requested details. I am Carmela, also a member of the Google Ads API team. Kindly note that I had to delete your message as it contained your logs.

Moving forward, upon checking on our end, I was able to get results using the same report but I used v11 of the Google Ads API. That said, I would suggest using the v11 to get the status of your upgrade.

I used v11.
I had known reason.
Because I don't upgrade SHOPPING to PMAX campaign so I can't find  performance_max_upgrade field when try query campaign. Thanks.

I have another question.
I have many SHOPPING campaigns.
When I use recommendation query to get type recommendation "UPGRADE_SMART_SHOPPING_CAMPAIGN_TO_PERFORMANCE_MAX", the result only has one recommendation.

Can you share with me about conditions for the SHOPPING campaign can upgrade to PMAX?

Thank you for the reply.

Since you said that you have many shopping campaigns, you may note that there are two types of Shopping campaigns that can be created using the Google Ads API, the Standard Shopping campaigns and the Smart Shopping campaigns . With this, you may note that only the Smart Shopping campaigns are being upgraded to Performance Max campaigns and not the Standard Shopping campaigns .

Moving forward, You may also note that there will be a self-upgrade period using a future recommendation type. This will be followed by a rolling auto-upgrade period. You may check this documentation for more information.

I think I created Smart Shopping campaigns but I still don't see upgrade recommendation to PMAX.
Which information do I need to upgrade SSC to PMAX?

Thanks for getting back to us.

I understand that you are not seeing upgrade recommendations to PMAX for Smart Shopping campaigns. However, could you please confirm if you’re able to see upgrade recommendations on Ads UI console? If yes, then you should be able to pull using a recommendation report. If not, then this could be the reason that the recommendation report is giving empty data for said campaign. With this, I would suggest reaching out to the product team via this link so that they can assess your account and campaign to have upgrade criteria for the SSC campaign.

Today is happy.

I have seen a few more of my SSC campaigns with upgrade status available.
I think my new SSC campaigns are in your queue.
I will wait a few more days to see all the campaigns to upgrade.
