Uploading offline click conversions via the REST Interface

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to upload offline click conversions via the Google Ads API REST Interface. We'd like to upload conversions automatically and periodically, so I was looking at the Python example here that utilizes the google-ads Python client library: https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/conversions/upload-clicks#python

However, due to a restriction in our project, I am not able to use a current version of the google-ads Python library. I got around this previously by using the REST Interface to retrieve data from the API, and I was wondering if there was a similar option for uploading offline click conversions. 

If not, is uploading files to an SFTP and setting up a schedule as detailed here our best option? https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7014069#zippy=%2Cupload-your-conversions-on-a-schedule

Here is customers.uploadClickConversions endpoint, this is the equivalent in REST.
