once again I'm working on a 'little' application using the Adwords
API. It's an Adwords integration of a webshop where prices change
quite frequently. I want the ads to reflect these changes and so I
check the database for price changes every hour and create a new ad
and remove the old one. Quite often, the price changes back a day or
two later to what it was before. I can reuse the old ad with its
already gained history and don't have to waste quota units - that's
great.
Now the question is if I should only change the status of my ads to
'Paused' or 'Disabled' when they loose their validity. Is there any
difference between status 'Disabled' and 'Paused' besides that paused
ads are still visible in the account interface while disabled ads
aren't?

Hi Jan,
Setting an ad's status to "Disabled" is the same thing as deleting it.
It
sounds like you'd be better off pausing the ads.
Can I help you with anything else today?

Well thanks Aaron for you fast answer,
but using just pausing the ads I will eventually end up with hundreds
of ads
paused in my adgroups never be used again. And because deleted ads can
be
reactivated with the API or Editor, I wonder if there is a real
difference
between disabled (deleted) and paused ads. Doesn'T seem so to me. But
I
don't know about history of the ads and what else could be there
(editorial
checks, quality score and so on).
So I repeat my question:
Is there any difference between status 'Disabled' and 'Paused' besides
that
paused ads are still visible in the account interface while disabled
ads
aren't?

Hi Jan,
I believe you're right that that's the only discernible difference.
So if it's easy for you to re-enable your ads, and too many paused
ones
would clutter up your account, then I don't see any reason not to
disable/enable the ads to meet your purposes.

So, disabled = paused + not visible in account.
