Resource Exhausted and Google Ads Dev Tokens

Hi,

I am trying to scale a process across 1000+ accounts (I work for an agency). The process is time sensitive, and so I've often hitting 429 Resource Exhausted problems. 

We've already taken other steps like optimising the queries, etc - but the sheer number of accounts makes this border on impossible to achieve.

I'm using the dev token attributed to our agency MCC for all of these requests, but is it acceptable to apply for tokens for sub-MCCs e.g. Agency MCC > Client A MCC in order to use a different token per client/client group and avoid the problems of scale?

We got the same Resource has been exhausted errors for our Google Ads API jobs this past Saturday and Sunday (28-29 June) as well as the previous Saturday and Sunday (21-22 June). Yet the weekday jobs ran fine.

I’m experiencing a ResourceExhausted (429) error, but my request volume is very low. There is only one script making calls, and it runs once per hour. There are no other applications or users accessing the API. Given this usage pattern, I believe I'm well below the daily quota limits. Could you please help identify what specific quota or rate limit is being exceeded?

Hi,

I understand that you are encountering an “RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED” error while trying to make a request to Google Ads API. Kindly note that RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED error generally occurs when you are sending too many requests in a short period of time. The server throws this error once it detects that your request has exceeded the system frequency limit. I would recommend setting up short delays between requests or combining more operations in fewer requests. I would recommend you please refer to the “Batch operations” documentation for more information. Additionally, I would suggest you refer to the "Usage flow" guide for insights on incorporating batch processing into your API requests.

Also, this error may occur if you have already exceeded the daily limit of 15,000 API operations per day. Kindly note that the "RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED" error can be mitigated by increasing the number of operations per day. I could see that the manager account has Basic access. If you would like to apply for unlimited Google Ads API operations, fill out the standard access application form. I would suggest you please refer to this “Access Levels and Permissible Use” documentation for more information.

Additionally, you can monitor your quota usage and limits via the Google Cloud Console. Please follow these steps:

• Go to the Google Cloud Console
• Select the project associated with your Google Ads API
• Navigate to Enabled APIs & Services
• Click on Google Ads API
• Then go to Quotas & System Limits to view detailed usage information
