Hello,

RelatedToKeywordSearch used to return in its results the keyword we
searched with and its values ('KEYWORD',
'AVERAGE_TARGETED_MONTHLY_SEARCHES', 'COMPETITION',
'KEYWORD_CATEGORY', 'GLOBAL_MONTHLY_SEARCHES') Now I am not seeing
it. How do I get these results again???

Hi Eric,
It looks like this question was mostly answered in this thread: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!search/RelatedToKeywordSearch/adwords-api/31WceodzPCA/hb92c1JpblQJ

In summary, v201101 uses slightly different terminology and names and checking the API documentation is the best way to determine the correct field name to use.

No he answered the issue of v201101 switching to CRITERION instead of
KEYWORD that doesnt answer the issue of not seeing the seed Keyword
(cause that is what it is still called in the request) in the results

If Im looking for related Keywords/Criterion for "Truck Tire" when I
look at the results I will see

Truck Tires
<keyword>truck tires</keyword>
<avgmonthlysearches>0</avgmonthlysearches>
<globalmonthlysearches>135000</globalmonthlysearches>
<competition>0.87943065512769</competition>

"Light Truck Tires"
<keyword>light truck tires</keyword>
<avgmonthlysearches>0</avgmonthlysearches>
<globalmonthlysearches>12100</globalmonthlysearches>
<competition>0.94263946865168</competition>

How do I decide if Truck Tire would be better than Truck Tires or
Light Truck Tires if I dont get the seed Keywords result for "Truck
Tire" in the results???
The only way to get it was make a request for "Truck Tires" and I will
get "Truck Tire" but that makes it complicated and I have to make 2
requests to me it just seems like common sense to returned it

Thx,
Eric

Hi Eric,
Unfortunately, in v201101 the seed keyword is not guaranteed to be returned.  You'll have to perform two operations to achieve your goal, but our best practices guide suggests a way to batch your requests and still only make one API call: http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/bestpractices.html#batch_stats

Hi Kevin!

We've run into this exact problem as well. We need the stats on both
the seed keyword AND the keyword ideas generated by it, and now it
appears we'll either have to make two API calls for each keyword
(which is highly inefficient), or we'll have to totally restructure
our code to make one set of calls for IDEAS, and a separate batched
calls for STATS, and merge the result sets after all the calls are
done. Is there any other possible solutions for this? I tried
adding an IdeaTextMatchesSearchParameter to explicitly include the
seed keyword, but it still didn't work.

Hi Steve, Eric,
Thank you for the feedback.  The behavior of returning the seed keyword was an implementation detail that was not documented or guaranteed, but I can see the benefit of it.  I've created a feature request with Eric's example and submitted it to the core engineering team.

In the meantime, the only option is to make two separate calls to the TargetingIdeaService.

Hi,
I just wanted to follow up regarding the feature request i submitted.  According to the core engineers, this is an intended change and they are not planning to add this functionality back into the API.  I apologize for the inconvenience.
