Hi Team,

I'm facing issues while trying to access the parental status and Household income.
Below I have provided the document from which trying to access,
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v19/AudienceInsightsDimensionEnum.AudienceInsightsDimension
https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v19/ListAudienceInsightsAttributesRequest
As per the available enums I'm trying to retrieve parental status and household income but ending up with invalid enum error for these two.
Please let me know if any additional information is required. Thank you!

Regards,
Srinidhi

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the Google Ads API support team.

I understand that you are using the customers.searchAudienceInsightsAttributes method and are encountering an “invalid enum” error for the dimension values ‘PARENTAL_STATUS’ and ‘Household income’. Please note that as per the AudienceInsightsDimension document, there is no such value with the name ‘Household income’. This may be the reason for encountering the “invalid enum” error for this value. But, as you mentioned, you have also encountered the same error for the ‘PARENTAL_STATUS’ value, please provide the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated on your end without redacting any information along with your Google Ads customer Id in order to investigate the issue further.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or direct private reply to this email.

Hi,

As informed earlier, In the AudienceInsightsDimension document, there is no such value with the name ‘Household income’. This may be the reason for encountering the “invalid enum” error for this value. However, you can use the field INCOME_RANGE to access the household income in the form of percentile range. Since you have also encountered the same error for the ‘PARENTAL_STATUS’ value, please provide the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated on your end. This information will help to replicate the issue from our end.

Hi,

Please find the below responses for your queries:

1) Is there any specific API to retrieve the household income?
  • Please be informed that there is no specific API within the Google Ads API to directly retrieve household income data.

2) GenerateInsightsFinderReportRequest Once I generate a URL from this, there is a download option in the Insights Report UI. Do we have a specific API to retrieve the insights data from the API instead of downloading the CSV file?

  • I would like to inform you that currently there is no direct API method specifically designed to retrieve the data generated by the Insights Finder Report in the same structured format as the UI or the downloaded CSV.

Also, I would like to inform you that the logs that you have provided are not in the correct format, and we are not able to open the files that you have provided. In order to investigate further, kindly provide us with the complete API logs in .txt format (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end for the 'INCOME_RANGE' and 'PARENTAL_STATUS' values.

Thanks,

Hi,

Please be informed that I have removed your response from the forums as it contains the PII information. From the provided logs, it appears that you are using the AudienceInsightsService to retrieve the ‘PARENTAL_STATUS’ and ‘INCOME_RANGE’ through the Google Ads API. Please note that the audience insights feature is only available to accounts on an allowlist. To get access to this feature, your account should be allowlisted. You may need to contact your Google representative if you need access to this feature. I would recommend you to refer to this Audience insights documentation for more detailed information.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

I wanted confirm that AudienceInsightsService  works fine if I try for the below dimensions,
CATEGORY, KNOWLEDGE_GRAPH, GEO_TARGET_COUNTRY, SUB_COUNTRY_LOCATION, AFFINITY_USER_INTEREST, IN_MARKET_USER_INTEREST, AGE_RANGE, and GENDER but it doesn't work only for the  PARENTAL_STATUS and INCOME_RANGE. To access to these the two dimensions my account should be allowlisted. Is my understanding correct here?

Hi,

You can find the details about "PARENTAL_STATUS" and "INCOME_RANGE" in the document "About demographic targeting". As you can see, it is not specifically mentioned that the account should be allowlisted for these dimensions.

Hi,

In the previous response you just mentioned for AudienceInsightsService retrieve the ‘PARENTAL_STATUS’ and ‘INCOME_RANGE’ through the Google Ads API  is only available to accounts on an allowlist. But as I mentioned I'm able to retrieve rest of the dimensions available in https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v19/AudienceInsightsDimensionEnum.AudienceInsightsDimension. So, please confirm what is the exact issue with retrieving these two above mentioned dimensions.

Hello,

The team is still investigating why these types are not supported, and what next steps are. I don't have any specific updates yet, but I will keep an eye on their progress and let you know when I have more information to share.

Thanks,

Hello,

It looks like these types not being supported was an oversight when the feature was initially launched. They're working on adding support for these two missing types now, but I can't provide any specific estimate on when it will be publicly available. Thank you for reporting this issue so that we can continue to improve the Google Ads API.

Thanks,
