Hi everyone,

we are downloading and displaying Google Ads Statistics for our customers.
One of the customers noticed that the data we display in our system differs from the data in Google Ads for his smart shopping campaign.

The differences arise as we are downloading and displaying the data from the Ad Performance Report and the values Google Ads shows seem to be from the Product Partition Report. And the values for the product partitions differ in a way we cannot follow:

a) The sum of clicks/impressions/cost does not match at all
b) The Ad Performance Report shows clicks/impressions for the keywords 3000004 & 3000006

What is the difference between those 2 reports and how can we make the Ad Performance Report show the same values that Google Ads shows to the customer?

If needed, I can provide the mentioned reports and their Report-SOAP-Requests.

Hi,

Thanks for posting your concern.

The Product Partition Report provides shopping campaign statistics aggregated at the product partition (Id field) level while Ad Performance Report includes all statistics aggregated at the ad level, one row per ad.

If you want to get the statistic of your smart shopping ads then, I would suggest using Ad Performance Report. You may filter the report with the fields specified below and compare it to the 'MIXED:
Also, try filtering the AdType with GOAL_OPTIMIZED_SHOPPING_AD. After applying the suggested filters, then you may try to compare the result of the API and the UI.

Please refer also to this document to see the correct mapping of reports in specific UI, especially to this section, and this section as well.

Hi Ernie John Blanca Tacata,

thanks for your suggestions. I tried all of them without success. I'm only downloading the statistics for 1 campaign/1 adgroup for a Smart Shopping Campaign.

When looking at the resulting file,
  • AdNetworkType1 is always "Cross-network"
  • AdNetworkType2 is also always "Cross-network"
  • Slot (Top vcs Other) as well
  • And filtering on AdType with the key you posted did not change anything in the report.
Please keep in mind that there is only 1 AdType in the whole campaign: "Shopping ad (goal-optimized)"

Is there a way for me to send you AccountId, CampaignId and AdgroupId so that you can have a look at the same data as I am looking at?

Regards,
Bernhard

Hi Bernhard,

I work with Ernie and allow me to assist you for now.

So our team can look closer into your concern, could you provide your account/customer ID, the complete report definition / query you used, and also the complete Google Ads UI screenshot you are using to compare against the API's reports?

You may send the requested information using the Reply privately to author option.
