Hi,

When issuing requests against the geographic_view, we've observed that the resulting data is segmented by geographic_view.location_type regardless of whether this field is included in the GAQL query.
This is not behavior we would expect for a field that has been excluded from the GAQL query.

Could you clarify, is this intended  behavior and if so is there another resource that can be queried to provide a result-set that is truly segmented ONLY BY COUNTRY (and not location_type).

Thanks in advance,
-Dom

Hi Dom,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Kindly note that your understanding is correct that the behavior you're observing with geographic_view is intended behavior. Even if you exclude geographic_view.location_type from your GAQL query, the data will still be segmented by it.

I would like to inform you that the segment campaign report by geo_target_country is not supported as per the documentation of the Google Ads API.

Kindly note that, I will raise a request for this feature to become available in the Google Ads API. However, I cannot provide a scheduled timeline for its availability in the API. So, I would recommend you to follow our Blog Post and Release Notes for future updates.
