Running the following query:

SELECT+Criteria,Clicks,Impressions,Cost+FROM+GENDER_PERFORMANCE_REPORT+WHERE+Impressions > 0+AND+DURING+20151101,20151130

more than one rows per gender. According to the documentation on the Gender performance report, this should only happen when you add other segment fields to the query such as AdNetworkType1, but the results show otherwise:
"GENDER_PERFORMANCE_REPORT (Dec 10, 2015-Dec 16, 2015)"

Hi Tiana,

Gender/Age report will break down by Gender/Age range AND ad group, that is why you will see multiple rows per gender.

Hi Yin,

That hasn't been documented anywhere. The documentation says: "The Gender Performance report includes all statistics aggregated by gender. [...] If other segment fields are used, you may get more than one row per gender." I didn't add ad group or any other segment field in my request, so I expect it to JUST be broken down by gender, nothing else.

It would also be great if you could simply request e.g. ad group without it breaking down instantly. This should be an option in my honest opinion. Maybe enabled by default, but you should be able to choose not to break down the data if you don't want to. ;)

Best,

Tiana

Hi Tiana,

This hasn't been documented yet. Hopefully the document will be updated in the future.  And thanks for your suggestions. I will let the rest of the team know.

Hi Yin,

Thank's for your help! Just doesn't make sense to me that when you don't request any segmentation it's still segmented... ;)

Best,

Tiana

@Google: Are there any plans to make Attribution Type reports available without implicit segmentation on ad group level?

Thanks,
Timm

Hi Timm,

Most reports are implicitly segmented at some level, and for criteria types, that's generally determined by the level at which that particular criteria type can be targeted. In the case of Gender criteria, you can only target at the ad group level, so these ultimately are AdGroupCriterion. Therefore, reports come back implicitly segmented by ad group. We don't have any plans to change this behavior across reports.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team
