Hello,

We have a placement exclusion list on the top level manager account. The list was shared with the client accounts. Can that list be retrieved using SharedSetService, and added to campaigns through CampaignSharedSetService?

Thanks,
Mark

Hello Mark,

Thank you for reaching out. With regards to your concern, it is possible to retrieve the placement exclusion list on top manager account shared with the client accounts using the SharedSetService. However, the negative placement shared sets for manager accounts are not supported in the AdWords API or the Google Ads UI. Please refer to this guide for more details. Also, it is not possible to add these placements exclusions at campaign level using CampaignSharedSetService as this list is owned by manager account. Please refer to this code sample to create and attach a shared set to the campaign. Let us know if you need any additional information.

Hello Nikisha,

Thanks for the reply. This is unfortunate, because we have a very large exclusion list (consisting of over 11,000 websites) on the top level management account, and it would be highly ineffective to re-create it on each client account.

What we are trying to implement is exclude all website placements using the list on campaign/ad group level. Is there a better method using the API? I know platforms cannot be used as negative criteria, and frankly, we are not looking to exclude platforms, but rather all websites regardless of where they might be displayed.

Would the following work? Let's say we add all mobile app categories as positive placements (biddable criterion) for a campaign. Would this create a "white list" where the ads in the campaign can appear, effectively excluding websites?

Cheers,
Mark

Hello Mark,

For your concern related to sharing the MCC level negative criteria to all the sub-accounts, I have created a feature request internally within our team. Please keep an eye on our blog post for upcoming releases. Also, could you please elaborate on the workaround to achieve this scenario for me to investigate this further and confirm if it is possible via API?

Hi,

Thank you for raising this concern to the Google Ads API Forum.

Upon checking this, I can see that you've created multiple threads with the same concern mentioned in this subject name: Is there a Google Ads API way to associate MCC level placement exclusion list to sub accounts? I would suggest raising a concern to a single thread only for better tracking of updates. Let's continue our conversation on the other thread you've created as my colleague already provided the response there. Also, if you have additional questions.

Best regards,
