Hi,
we are currently using an existing developer token for the productive integration of our systems with the Ads API. Due to internal requirements, we would like to replace our current developer token with a new one.
According to https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/get-started/dev-token?hl=de , only one developer token is granted per company.

Our concern is to apply for a new developer token and, after approval, switch to it in our live operations without any interruption to our API integration.
Resetting the existing token probably would immediately invalidate it and cause all ongoing API requests to fail.
Therefore, we want to avoid any outages during the transition process.

Could you please let us know:

What is the recommended procedure for applying for a new developer token with standard access level for our company and switching to it in production after approval?

Is it possible to continue using the current token in parallel until the new token is fully approved and operational?

How can we ensure that the transition takes place without any interruption to our ongoing operations?

We would appreciate a brief response outlining the recommended steps and any special considerations regarding the token transition.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
Frank

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Kindly note that the concerns related to developer tokens are out of scope for the Google Ads API support team, as our team specializes in Google Ads API-related concerns and technical implementations only.

Since your concern: “replacing developer token without interruption” and asking questions related to the access or developer token, do not fall under the Google Ads API support team because these concerns are not related to the Google Ads API technical implementations or concerns or issues. With this, I highly recommend you reach out to the Google Ads API Compliance team, as they are better equipped to assist you on this.

Hi Frank,

As previously said, note that this channel / our team provides assistance to Google Ads API-related concerns and technical implementations only. When it comes to concerns related to token application process and approval, I believe that it is the Google Ads API Compliance who handles it. Having said that, please reach out to the Compliance team by selecting the option “I'm waiting to hear back about my API application! Help!” under the ‘What is your issue? *’ via this form for them to provide the updates or status of your application.

Thanks,
