When downloading a product partition report with includeZeroImpressions=false, we sometimes get rows with zero impressions. For example, we download a product partition report for a month, segmented by day and get some rows with zero impressions (although includeZeroImpressions is false). When setting includeZeroImpressions to true, we get rows for all product groups and days as expected. We are now filtering for zeroImpressions with a predicate (impressions > 0) and get no rows with zero impressions, so we have a solution for this. However, we are unsure about the usage and effect of the includeZeroImpression flag. Is this behavior intended?

Hello,

You should not be getting zero impression rows if you are including Date as one of your fields and/or setting includeZeroImpressions=false.

Could you Reply privately to author the report definition with Date and includeZeroImpressions=false along with the campaign ID that produced zero impression rows?

Thanks,
Anthony, AdWords API Team

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for sending over the details to Anthony -- with that information I was able to reproduce the issue you described. We're following up with the reporting team to see why this particular report seems to be ignoring the includeZeroImpressions=false setting when the Date field is requested. I'll post back here as soon as I have an update.

In the meantime, please exclude zero impressions by adding a predicate on Impressions GREATER_THAN 0, since that appears to be working in all cases.

Thanks,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Hi Josh,

thanks for the update. As a side note, it does not seem that the report is ignoring the flag entirely. If I request the same report with includeZeroImpressions=true, I get a lot more zero-impression rows. We're already using the predicate now and it works without problems.

Best wishes,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for pointing that out -- I hadn't tried setting it to true so didn't notice the difference in behavior. I'll pass that info along to the reporting team.

Cheers,
Josh, AdWords API Team

Hi Stefan,

We're working on this one, but I don't have an ETA just yet for when it will be fixed. I'll let you know as soon as that happens.

Hi Josh,

today, we noticed the same behavior for keyword performance reports. Despite setting includeZeroImpressions to true, we got some rows with no impressions (includeZeroImpressions=true gives much more rows). Filtering with a predicate works as expected.

Cheers,
Stefan

sorry, i meant that we get some rows with zero impressions when we set includeZeroImpressions to false, of course.

Hi Stefan,

Could you send over the Keywords Performance Report request where you are seeing zero impression rows with includeZeroImpressions set to false? Please also include your customer ID so I can check it from my side. You can send it only to me by clicking Reply privately to author on this post.

Thanks,
