Hi All,
we noticed some inconsistencies on the data of the Geolocation reports both from the platform and from extraction via API.
In particular, starting from July 2017, there is a change in the Location Criteria ID for the city of Naples (as far as we know): before July 2017, the criteria ID was 1008560 (target type city), from July 2017 onwards the only criteria ID available is 9072701 (target type municipality). We would like to know if the value at the level of target type city is still available and, eventually, how to obtain it.

What seems strange to us is that, to date, we have noticed this change only on the city of Naples on the 50 cities analyzed. Do you have some information about it?

Tnx
Mariantonietta

Hi Mariantonietta,

Upon checking on the latest geotargets table, I could see that the criteria ID 1008560 (target type city) Naples is still available and active as well as the criteria ID 9072701 (target type municipality). You may download the latest geotargets table for the updated list of geo loaction that you could target.

Thanks and regards,
Luis

Hi Luis,
thank you for a quick answer.

We know that both ids are still available but for the city target type there aren't data (from 2017 July).
So we would like to know if there is a way to retrieve all missing data for Naples City from 2017 July to date. Otherwise, do you know the definition of target type municipality? We are interested, for example, to know how is large the radius of the defined municipality

Hi Mariantonietta,

I'm afraid there is no way to retrieve the old location criteria IDs as the LocationCriterionService does not support any date range when retrieving the id of location. Also, it is advisable to refer to the latest Geo Targets table when targeting locations as this is normally updated by our team over time.

The target type municipality means you want to target a location based on its municipality. However, the AdWords API does not support retrieving the radius of a certain location. I would suggest to try to use the Google Maps API instead if you want to get the radius of a certain location.

Regards,
Luis
