Performance Max report discrepancy

Hi,
I have a data report data discrepancy between campaign and shopping_performance_view

I add the queries executed for an especific day and a random campaign id just to show the executed queries.

select campaign.id, segments.date, segments.device, metrics.clicks, metrics.cost_micros, metrics.conversions, metrics.impressions 
from campaign where segments.date ='2022-07-01' and campaign.id=000000

and 

select campaign.id, segments.date, segments.device, metrics.clicks, metrics.cost_micros, metrics.conversions, metrics.impressions 
from shopping_performance_view  where segments.date ='2022-07-01' and campaign.id=000000


I would expect than metrics clicks, conversions, cost_micros and impressions in shopping performance are lower or equal than the total of the campaign but for some days (not all) the shopping performance impressions and/or shopping performance conversions are higher. I dont have the same issue for clicks and cost_micros.

Im not talking about a "few" impressions discrepancy, some days are around 5% and others as said looks ok.

The values in Google Ads UI Console  match (exactly) with the ones im able to retrieve in campaign report. 
How is this possible?

For our team to further investigate and to compare the degree of the discrepancy, could you provide our team with the complete API logs (request and response logs with request ID) generated on your end both in campaign and shopping_performance_view and also the complete UI screenshot so our team can compare the exact information retrieve?

Hi SP,

Thank you for providing more details to your concern. I am also a member of the Google Ads API team and let me provide support to your concern.

I tried impersonating the report on my end and I was able to see the data discrepancies between the 2 reports. However, I am afraid that this is expected as the data / statistics of different report types are accumulated at different levels as well. The discrepancies can also be seen in the UI so the data / statistics returned by the Google Ads API is correct.

Hi, thanks for reply and provide more information.

Could you please give me more details about "different report types are accumulated at different levels"?
Or to whom/where can I ask?

Base on the api documentation metrics.impressions in both reports have the same description.
How can i know the definition difference between impressions base on the report?

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to our team.

Each report with metrics of the Google Ads API specializes in the resource or entity they are named after.

For example, since you are comparing the shopping_performance_view and the campaign view, then the shopping report should provide shopping campaign statistics and aggregate metrics at several product dimension levels, while the campaign report is the accumulation of the metrics of all the other criteria and other entities under that said campaign.

Hi,
thank you very much for your answer.

I dont fully understand why this is happening only with impressions and why aggregating metrics at product dimensions is bigger than doing it for campaign but i think i would need to live with that.
