So I got this following error:

The conversion action specified in the upload request isn't set up for uploading conversions., at conversions[0].conversion_action

The difference between the API and the Interface is that from the API we can set the conversion_type as UPLOAD_CLICKS, which is what google ads expects, however, google documentation doesn't tell us what is the equivalent for UPLOAD_CLICKS type on the interface.
Also, whenever we create an conversion manually the status says "Inactive", but when we create using the API it says "No recent conversions" (not sure if this means something tbh).

How can I create manually in the interface a conversion action that is of type "UPLOAD_CLICKS"? In a way that should be the same as the API

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Upon checking, I understand that you are getting an "INVALID_CONVERSION_ACTION_TYPE" error while uploading conversions using the Google Ads API. Kindly note that this error indicates that the specified conversion action has a type that is not valid for uploading click conversions. Make sure the ConversionAction specified in your upload request has the type UPLOAD_CLICKS. I would recommend you to kindly refer to this help center article "Conversion Tracking: Troubleshooting conversion tracking status" to troubleshoot your conversions based on your conversion action ID status.

Could you kindly confirm if you followed the setup prerequisites for working with an offline conversion setup? If not, I would request you to follow the prerequisites before uploading offline click conversions. Also, I would suggest you refer to this "Debug common errors" documentation for more information. Further, I would suggest you to refer to the Monitor offline data diagnostics documentation as it helps to find the overall health of the conversion upload processes.

For uploading conversions using the Google Ads UI, I would recommend you to refer to this help center article "Import conversions from ad clicks into Google Ads using files" for more information. In order to investigate your issue further, kindly provide us with the complete API logs (request and response logs with request-id and request header) generated at your end and uncropped UI screenshot of the Google Ads account (with visible customer ID) where you are facing the issue.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or direct private reply to this email.

Hi,

I've already followed all the documentations provided, but I need to know which type is the equivalent for UPLOAD_CLICKS in the UI, simple as that. I already followed the pre-requisites.

Hi,

In order to debug the issue regarding an "INVALID_CONVERSION_ACTION_TYPE" error, provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end.

Also, regarding the equivalent to UPLOAD_CLICKS in the UI, kindly note that the concerns related to the UI are out of scope for the Google Ads API support team as our team specializes in Google Ads API related concerns and technical implementations only. I would recommend that you reach out to the Google Ads Product support team as they are better equipped to assist you on this.
