When submitting enhanced conversions via upload click conversions I get the api error below:

Can this be turned on in the Google Ads Admin panel as shown below? Does it matter whether I choose Google Tag Manager or gtag? Is there a delay after enabling this?

"Make sure you've turned on enhanced conversions for leads in conversion settings and try again. You can check your setting by querying conversion_tracking_setting.enhanced_conversions_for_leads_enabled on Customer., at conversions[0].user_identifiers"

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Upon checking your concern, I understand that you are getting a CUSTOMER_NOT_ENABLED_ENHANCED_CONVERSIONS_FOR_LEADS error when enhancing conversion for leads. The error message indicates that you haven't enabled Enhanced Conversions for leads in your Google Ads account settings.

Kindly note that before enhancing conversion for leads, please check the prerequisites documentation to know the prerequisites that should be satisfied before proceeding with the implementation. Also, refer to the Troubleshoot Enhanced Conversions for Leads guide; it will help you to know all common errors and troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

If the issue still persists, even after following the above guidance, please get back to us with complete API logs (request and response logs with request-id and request header) generated at your end.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via the Reply privately to the author option or a direct private reply to this email.
