We have a need to limit the spending of ad groups to a predetermined budget for each ad group. It seems to me that the AdGroupService supports bidding schemes attached to ad groups, and the TargetSpendBiddingScheme has a fixed amount attached. Is anyone able to speak for the feasibility of this approach? Have you used a bidding scheme to limit spending on an ad group?

Thanks,
Johnny

Hi Johnny,

The budgets can only be set at Campaign level. One way of limiting the budget for an AdGroup would be to have only one AdGroup in a campaign which will have the budget that you want to limit to. You could also take a look at setting up automated rules from your AdWords web interface. I also found this and this posts on the product forum which might be helpful for you. If you have any follow up questions that are at the product level, you could post that on the advertisers community forum.

Also, please note that staring in v201705, the bidding strategy will no longer be allowed to be overridden at the ad group or ad group criterion levels. This means the biddingStrategyType, biddingStrategyId, and biddingScheme cannot be set at those levels. Please check the guide on Bidding for more details.

Thanks,
