Hello,

When running the KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordForecastMetrics, adding negative keywords has no effect on the results. I've tried adding them at the campaign level and ad group level with no luck. When running the same examples in the UI, I can see negatives lower impressions and other metrics. I was under the impression that the UI should match the api, but I can't seem to reproduce the functionality of the UI. Is this a just a limitation of the api? Or is this something that might be implemented in future versions like 18?

Thanks,
Parker

Hi Parker,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Usually, the API reproduces the functionality of the UI. To confirm, when you add the negative keywords at the campaign level and ad group level while running the KeywordPlanIdeaService.GenerateKeywordForecastMetrics doesn't result in lower impressions and other metrics, whereas in the UI, you can see that the negative keywords lowered the impressions. Is the above understanding correct?

Also, in order to assist you further, please provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end while performing the above operation (via API). Include the corresponding uncropped UI screenshot (from your Google Ads UI) highlighting the behavior. Also, send us the UI screenshots of this operation that was successful in lowering the impressions via the UI.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.

You can send the details via Reply privately to the author option, or direct private reply to this email.
