I run an Adwords account for a client that has two different physical locations (both in the same ADW account). The client has Google My Business set up already (not sure if it's separate for each location or if both locations are managed from the same GMB profile), but I do not have access to their GMB profile. GMB is not linked to Adwords at this time.

What's the best way for me to handle the migration of their location extensions? Is it going to cause trouble if Google automatically creates new GMB profiles for these locations when those profiles already exist but aren't linked? Or do I need to try to get log-in access to the client's GMB to link it to Adwords and try to coordinate the migration myself?

Thanks!

Hi Zach,

You will be able to maintain the location extensions once the existing GMB account is linked with the AdWords account and the filters are created in the GMB account. With these filters you can set the location extensions at the AdGroup level or the Campaign level. Please check this guide for more details. On the other hand, without the GMB account being linked, you will not be able to manage the location extensions. You could either request the client to link that GMB account or grant you access to their GMB account.

If the manual location extensions exist in the given AdWords account, it will be tagged for the auto migration. For each unmigrated location in the client Account, the auto migration will create a new unverified business location in a newly created Business Account (for the lowest level Manger account) and label it with its AdWords Customer ID. The original manually created feed items representing that location in AdWords will be removed. Please check this blog for more details about the auto migration.

Thanks,
