I have just read that the V13 is due to sunset in a calculated time.
I've been forced to use this version due to the well documented short-
comings of the new API's KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT.

Will the patch for the incomplete data from the
KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT be deployed prior to the sunset of the
only version that contains 100% complete data at the keyword level?

In summary, the KEYWORDS_PERFORMANCE_REPORT does not allow balancing,
since it is not returning data for re-marketing campaigns that do not
have keywords. This condition prevents one from reporting accurate
data, since the information is not returned. As mentioned this
results in an out of balance condition when auditing against any
AdWords invoices.

The work-around requires one to use "hard-coded" Campaign or Adgroup
Names w/n AdWords in order to properly parse/merge data from a second
report such as the ADGROUP_PERFORMANCE_REPORT. This can be fraught
with problems since it requires user input for a Re-Marketing Campaign/
AdGroup name to reflect a string our application can locate and react
to accordingly, not to mention additional API method invocation and
the associated traffic.

Thanks in advance your assistance,
David

Hi David,

Just wondering, why do you use the Campaign name when joining the reports? Isn't CampaignId a more reliable field to join on? Also, could you point me to the documented limitation you are referring to? I could check with the reporting team and find out more details.

Cheers,

Sorry for the delay Anash, hope this link suffices for background on
this issue:
http://groups.google.com/group/adwords-api/browse_frm/thread/61893660f41895c/0e0e2be554eb6c5e?lnk=gst&q=okiebug1399#0e0e2be554eb6c5e

One can also review posts from me beginning in the Feb/March 2011 time
frame to locate (that is when I migrated off the V13 platform. I have
tested each subsequent new release from V201008 to V20110n with each
report failing to return complete data for the date.

In regard to your inquiry on the joining of reports; it is not best
practices to run multiple reports to obtain account data and something
I am avoiding at all costs, since it would require using a hard-coded
campaign name to denote that the campaign is a Re-Marketing one and
without keywords. Having said that this is primarily due to the
report, we are strictly discussing patches to the Keyword Performance
Report, returning 100% complete data (meaning I can balance with the
portals data) for Re-Marketing campaigns that have keywords. This
would force one to merge in data from multiple reports, making sure
not to duplicate data, in order to obtain this balancing for the days
spend.

It is really a big problem, not being on the most current version of
your API for reporting; please let me know the light at the end of the
tunnel is near and not a 3000# gorilla with a flashlight.

Thanks in advance for your assistance,

David

Hi David,

The v201101 KEYWORDS report currently only returns data about actual keywords, which some would argue is the correct behavior.  This does differ from the v13 Keywords report, which returned data for all types of criteria, including user list criteria.  We understand that this per-criteria information is important to our customers, and we are working to expose stats for these other criteria via reports.

In regards to the difficulty, if you are only trying to balance the data with another system then wouldn't you be able to use ADGROUP, CAMPAIGN, or ACCOUNT level reports across all your campaigns?  The KEYWORDS report is really only useful if you are trying to obtain criteria-specific statistics.

Best,
