Hi

I have a query regarding the access control within Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) and its implications for integrating with a Customer Data Platform (CDP). My client is concerned about granting access to one specific Google Ads account, which is part of an MCC, and whether this would result in CDP having access to all the accounts under that MCC.

The main concern is whether providing access to a single Google Ads account within the MCC would inadvertently grant access to all other accounts within the same MCC. My client wants to ensure that the data and advertising activities within the other accounts remain separate and independent from the one being integrated with CDP.

Could anyone with experience or knowledge about Google Ads Manager Account shed some light on this issue? Are the access permissions isolated to individual accounts within the MCC, or is there a risk of unintended access to other accounts when providing access to one account?

If possible, please share any relevant documentation or guidelines from Google Ads that clarify the access control and permissions within an MCC setup

Hi,

Thank you for raising this concern to the Google Ads API support team.

Regarding your concern, can you confirm if you are referring to providing/granting access to users in a specific client account under MCC account? If so, kindly note that if you need to grant access to a user in a specific client account under the MCC account, you will need to follow this Manage access to your Google Ads account (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6372672?hl=en&sjid=4197235175383058494-AP) article and Managing User Access (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/account-management/managing-users) guide as this has the directions for inviting a user to access an individual Google Ads account. This is to ensure that the user can only access a specific client account and not the other accounts which are also under the MCC account.

In addition, for manager accounts, you may refer to this Manage users and access levels for your manager account (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7459700) article for more information. Kindly note that Manager accounts are Google Ads accounts that are used for administrative purposes and not for serving ads. They act as single points of access for the accounts they manage, so are used in setting up consolidated billing and other features across multiple accounts. If you provide access to the user in your MCC account, then they can also access the accounts under the Manager account.

Let us know if this is what you are looking for.
