Video Ads: Want to pull VideoId and Video thumbnail url

Hi,

For all ads in my account, I want to pull videoID and video thumbnail url(to construct the thumbnail image) for each ad. What's the way to get them ? I have extracted the VideoID and from that I think I can construct the URL for thumbnail(as seen in attachment image), but for this, I need the thumbnail image name. Is there a way to get that via Adwords API. Is there a better way to solve this purpose ? Maybe YouTube API ?

Hi Abhishek,

The url for your video ad's thumbnail is currently not available via the AdWords API. Also, my apologies if I cannot comment if this is possible via the YouTube API since the said API is already out of scope for our team.

Hi Peter,

I've noticed that ads URL can be constructed as `https://i1.ytimg.com/vi/<Video_ID>/default.jpg`. Does the image name always remain `default.jpg` for each and every ad ?

Hi Abhishek,

My apologies if I'm unable to comment regarding this. I have mentioned that video ads thumbnail URLs are not supported in the AdWords API so I would not be able to verify if the convention you are suggesting is indeed correct. That being said, I would recommend that you get in touch with the product experts via the AdWords Community Forum to verify if you would be able to extract your video ads thumbnail URLs in other platforms.
