Yes, the API does support HTML5 ads, which can be accessed by using the Template Ads feature. Please see our guide on template ads and our appendix on the HTML5 template for more information.

Unfortunately, as you noticed, these ads are limited in scope. We don't support general HTML5 ads via the API.
