Keyword or phrase viability analysis?

I asked via the ruby api library whether or not it can be used to analyze keyword viability.  In reply I was sent over here and told that the ruby adwords api supports every feature of the library and therefore my question would be better asked here and then details of implementation asked there:

I am a content producer and would like to analyze inbound content that is being posted so that I can feed Google appropriately tagged content with a better understanding of the value of inbound keywords for the content that is being produced. Can the API be used to determine rank of keywords or is there another preferred way of determining keyword value programmatically?

Hello,

You can use the Keywords Performance Report to get statistics about the keywords in your account. There are various stats about those keywords that you can include, so you can do your own analysis on which are working for you and which are not.
