The Ads API can only be a conduit to the product as exposed in the UI. If you cannot add item id's to a listing group filter for an asset group on a performance max campaign beyond this 1,000 item limit in the UI (you can try adding to the campaign you hit the limit with easily), then you may reach out to
product support for assistance.
If the API shows itself to be more limited than the UI, could you privately send us a request and response log of API communication when log level is set to ‘DEBUG', combined with a full screen screenshot of the UI that demonstrates this discrepancy?
The request and response appears similar to the
JSON Mappings in our REST documentation. Our client libraries have loggers with logging instructions, to see these instructions you can click on the client library you use in the sidebar of our
client library guide and click on "Logging".
