Hello,

I have been using Google Ads and Google Ad Words for many years.

I am trying to automate one of my campaigns using Python3. However, I am running into several roadblocks.

I have a few questions and I can't seem to find the answers anywhere online:
Do API versions: 'v201902', 'v201905', 'v201908', and 'v201911'. support bid modification?

When I auth with Google Ads API Beta v2 (NOT THE SAME AS GOOGLE ADWORDS API I GUESS?) I get an auth error when trying to use v2:
File "C:\Users\AELO\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37\lib\site-packages\google\ads\google_ads\interceptors\exception_interceptor.py", line 139, in intercept_unary_unary

self._handle_grpc_failure(response)

File "C:\Users\AELO\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37\lib\site-packages\google\ads\google_ads\interceptors\exception_interceptor.py", line 105, in _handle_grpc_failure
    google_ads_failure
= self._get_google_ads_failure(trailing_metadata)

File "C:\Users\AELO\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37\lib\site-packages\google\ads\google_ads\interceptors\exception_interceptor.py", line 68, in _get_google_ads_failure
    ga_failure
= error_protos.errors_pb2.GoogleAdsFailure()
AttributeError: module 'google.ads.google_ads.v2.proto.errors' has no attribute 'errors_pb2'

Is v201809 still supported? This is the version I see the most documentation for online.

Is anyone able to use v2 authentication successfully?

Please and thank you, I really need help on this. I'd like to have a call with a support member or a private conversation as I have already invested 25 hours into fixing this with limited success?

Hi Blade,

Thank you for reaching out. The most recent version of AdWords API is version 201809 which is still supported. You can find instructions here for bid modification. If you are using Google Ads API, you can follow these instructions for bid modification.

You are correct that Google Ads API is a new API that is different from AdWords. It is currently in Beta form and is not recommended for production use. Please follow these instructions for setting up the new client library if you would like. You can use your existing credentials however you will need to set up the new configuration file and also enable Google Ads API in the developer console as explained here.

If you have followed those instructions and are still getting authentication issues, please share your detailed request and response logs via reply privately to author so that I can further investigate the issue. You can find information on enabling logging here.

Regards,
Mitchell
