Some keywords have a 'low search volume' label (see attached image).

Is this info available through the API anywhere?

Hi,

Is there any updates on this?
Can we get the "low search volume" status for a keyword via the API?

Thanks,
Tomer

I found the answer while looking at the various keyword fields. The systemServingStatus is what you're looking for.  When its value is RARELY_SERVED that means the keyword is Low Search Volume:

Not working for us. We've got some terms that are definitely Low Search Volume according to the MCC UI. API is reporting all of them to be ELIGIBLE. None are coming back RARELY_SERVED.

Why that, I wonder?

I know this is a kind of old thread, but would someone from Google be able to respond with a definitive answer?  It looks like there's disagreement as to whether or not this systemServingStatus volume really correlates to Low Search Volume.

Thanks,
Greg

Would anyone from Google be able to confirm that the systemServingStatus of RARELY_SERVED correlates to "Low Search Volume"?

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

To help me to be on the same page, could I trouble you to send a fuller screenshot of where you are seeing this in the UI?

Thanks,

Ray

Hi, Ray.

I just realized I might have cropped slightly too much, so in case it's not clear, this is a screenshot from the keywords tab of a search campaign in the AdWords UI.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi guys,

"Low search volume" is not available in the API at the moment.

Thanks,

Ray

Ray, thanks for looking into this.  A followup question:  Does the RARELY_SERVED systemServingStatus encompass "Low search volume" plus some other statuses (i.e. if a keyword is "low search volume", it will show up as RARELY_SERVED, but if it's RARELY_SERVED, it doesn't necessarily mean it's "low search volume")?  If not, can you clarify what RARELY_SERVED corresponds to?

Thanks again,
Greg

Greg,

As far as I can tell at the moment, the "low search volume" label is not driven by the systemServingStatus.  I'll look into that status in more detail.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi, Ray.

Did you have any luck with details on what this RARELY_SERVED status actually means in terms of what we see in the UI?

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

As I mentioned, the RARELY_SERVED status is not reflected in the UI - it is not indicative of the "low search volume" label.  I do not have further information on the systemServiceStatus.RARELY_SERVED status yet.

Thanks,

Ray

Thanks for the quick response, Ray.

Yeah, I understand that it does not exactly indicate the "low search volume" label -- it's just not at all clear what it *does* indicate, and if what it represents is a combination of one or more things found in the UI.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi, Ray.

Just wanted to followup again and ask if you can specify what the RARELY_SERVED status actually indicates, particularly in terms of what is displayed in the AdWords UI?

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

As mentioned, RARELY_SERVED is not the representative status for what's being displayed in the AdWords UI.  - SystemServiceStatus.RARELY_SERVED status may be used to influence the final status displayed on the UI, but there are many other factors that are being used to determine the final status.

Thanks!

Ray

Hi Ray,

As you guys just announced the new API, can you share some details about the low search volume? can we expect to have it in the near couple of quarters?

Thanks,
Ron

Hello Ron,

All the details for the new release were included in our blog post and release notes. I cannot comment on the future of the API, and what features may or may not make future releases or in what timeframes.

Mike, AdWords API Team
