Hi there,

We are using CRMBasedUserList to create userLists for customer info and device ids,
Our uploads recently started failing as CustomerMatchUploadKeyType Mobile Advertising Id now requires an app id field as seen here in the docs https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/reference/rpc/v11/CrmBasedUserListInfo.
I'm just wondering if Mobile Advertising Id is the correct key type to use for device id based user lists as these user lists will have device ids from both mobile and web so what value could be used in the case of web device ids? Is there a default value?

Hi Killian,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Ads API Forum.

Kindly note that as similar to Customer Match with emails, you can also perform customer matching using IDFA (Identifier for Advertising) or AAID (Google Advertising ID) mobile device IDs. Note that mobile device IDs cannot be combined with any other types of customer data.

You need to specify the app_id property and set upload_key_type to MOBILE_ADVERTISING_ID prior to using a user list for customer matching with mobile device IDs. For more information, you may refer to this page

Hi there,

Thanks for getting back,

What is a user list has a combination of both IDFA and AAID, what app id should be used in this case?

Hi Killian,

Thank you for your follow up question.

The Google Ads API generally follows the validations and formats set at the Google Ads Product level for your customer match using mobile device IDs. That being said, I would recommend that you clarify the final input required for your scenario, with the Google Ads Product Support team, via this link.

In the Google Ads API's perspective, and as per the guide and mobile_id documentation, it should accept :
    • "you can also perform customer matching using IDFA (Identifier for Advertising) or AAID (Google Advertising ID) mobile device IDs"
    • "Mobile device ID (advertising ID/IDFA)"
    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
