Hi there,

I am having a bit of trouble finding out how to create an 'HTML5' ad for AdWords. As a front-end developer, making the actual banner isn't a problem - it is knowing what platform specific hooks need to be included. I am making some ads for a client who will be trafficking the ads themselves.

Usually I create (hand code) banners for use in DoubleClick (I don't use GWD or anything like that, just simple HTML, CSS and JS), so there are certain API hooks that need to be included for tracking purposes, otherwise the ad won't pass quality assurance. Are there any for AdWords? Or do I just create a rich media banner that will then be wrapped in something that will do the tracking?

Any help or tutorial suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please checkout our samples for SOAP log and the code (Java) for creating a HTML5 Ad via AdWords API. Feel free to write back if you have any additional questions.

Hi Sreelakshmi,

I think I may be over complicating things - can I just make a normal html banner and give it to my client to upload to their adwords account? Or do I need to add platform specific script in order for the banner to be accepted once uploaded to their adwords account?

Thanks,
Jana

Hi Jana,

If you are looking for the HTML5 Ads requirements please check this document. The HTML5 Media Bundle could have the HTML5 assets which could later be used for creating the Ads in the AdWords API.

Thanks,
