Could curly brackets are used as normal text but not an ad customize for responsive search ad?

Hi,

I set a text asset of RSA headlines as "Skin Spa {Asheville}" , but I got an error called UNRECOGNIZED_AD_CUSTOMIZER_TAG_FOUND when creating this RSA by Google Ads API. Is it possible that curly brackets are used as normal text but not an ad customizer?

With regard to your concern, to better check this concern, could you please provide the complete Ads API logs (request and response with request-id) so our team further investigates your problem?

Hi,

Add a phenomenon, we found that ad with title "Skin Spa {Asheville}" could be created if the ad type is EXTA, seems only RSA will treat "{Asheville}" as ad customizer.

Thank you for providing the additional feedback. I made sure my fellow engineers working on this feature are aware of this. I got an answer back from our engineering experts in this area.

It appears that it's expected that what you're doing is not allowed. It is expected that {} would not work outside of ad customizers. If you have any common use cases, then feel free to provide them, and we can consider it for any future features of the API.
