Adding Callouts and Calls to Responsive Search Ad

Hi,

I am using the python library to create responsive search ads using the Google Ads API. Want to know if I can add Callouts or a Call phone to the ad using the API. These can be added online.

Please note that the Google Ads API mirrors the Google Ads UI. meaning, if the feature is not available in Google Ads UI most likely also not available in the Google Ads API.

In relation to your concern, could you please provide a complete or uncropped screenshots from the Google Ads UI showing “add Callouts or a Call phone” in responsive search ads? 

This will help us to provide accurate information or recommendations on this matter. In addition, if this is not available in the API, then we will file a feature request based on the screenshot provided.

You can provide it via Reply privately to the author option. If this option is not available, then send it instead on this email address googleadsa...@google.com.

Thank you for your response. Please see image below from the Google Ads UI showing the Calls and Callout I am  hoping to add using the Google Ads API. 

The section comes up while editing a Responsive Search Ads. There is a section for More asset types (0/7)

I can see that your end goal here is to know if you can add call outs and calls to a responsive search ad. With this, please note that you cannot add these assets to a responsive search ads. As you may see on the table in this link, the responsive search ads (RSA) only support Text assets. For more information about Responsive Search Ads, you may check on this documentation.

In addition, if you try to add this call or callout asset types shown in the screenshot, these will not be directly attached to the RSA but it will be attached to the Campaign level.

Can you please share the link to the table mentioned and documentation to attach the callout asset in campaign level?

Hi,

You can refer to this guide on "use the asset in an ad" for more information regarding different ad and campaign types that support different asset types. Recommendations can improve your assets in a few ways. They can suggest assets for you, which you can add to your campaign by calling RecommendationService.ApplyRecommendation. For example, you can retrieve CALLOUT_ASSET, SITELINK_ASSET, CALL_ASSET, LEAD_FORM_ASSET and RESPONSIVE_SEARCH_AD_ASSET recommendations, and then apply them to attach the recommended assets to the relevant campaign, ad group, or ad. I would recommend you refer to this guide on asset recommendations for detailed information.
