Why no extensions are auto-migrated to assets yet?

Hello,

We're in process of changing our software to handle extensions on assets instead of feeds. I believe that extensions like sitelinks or callouts were supposed to be auto-migrated on the October 21st so I would expect to see all my sitelinks and callouts to be auto-migrated already but that is not the case (and we didn't ask for delaying this process).

The documentation is confusing, it mentions October 21st as the auto-migration date but it is strikethrough https://developers.google.com/google-ads/api/docs/extensions/assets/migrating-extensions (what does that mean, is it happening or is it not happening?), there is no explanation.

Here is an example of an account with no extensions migrated: 268-969-8621

Is it possible to clarify when/if it will happen? Thank you.

Best,
 Ales

Hi Ales,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you please confirm how you have verified that the extensions have not been migrated? Can you respond privately with this evidence?

Thanks,

GAds - Extension Assets - Screenshot 2021-11-23 192319.pngHello,

I went to my account > Ads & Extensions > Extensions > Table view > Change "All" to "All (upgraded)" and nothing is visible. Similar, when I change to Sitelinks view I can see Sitelinks but there is no "Sitelinks (upgraded)".

Hi Ales,

I'm a colleague of Matt from the Google Ads API Team.

Can you please confirm if you didn't choose to opt out of the automatic migration as described in our blog post? If yes, then the likely reason why you have not seen the effects of the migration is because based from the same blog post, it will take several weeks to complete the migration. If you want, you do have the option to migrate your own extensions now, just follow the migration procedure in our documentation for instructions.

Regards,

We didn't opt out. Does it mean that the auto-migration is still in progress?

Best,
 Ales

Hello,

We're rolling out more slowly than we initially anticipated, but we're still in the process of performing the rollout. You can expect to be migrated by February 2022 at the latest.

Mike, Google Ads API Team

Hello,

Yes, we are still investigating. What we've found is that the issue ultimately shouldn't be that we support larger timeouts, but rather that this query is not as fast as it should be, so that's our current line of investigation. We're looking into what is making the query so slow and ways to improve its speed so that you should be able to get the full results within the timeout limit.
