Hello,

We will be uploading offline conversions via the API, and will be uploading GCLID and Phone based conversions as two separate API calls.

Is there anything in place to prevent the same conversion to be recored for BOTH the Click AND the call? Or do we need to deduplicate on our end first? (eg: Don't upload phone conversions if a GCLID is present).

Best,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thank you for posting your concern.

Could you confirm first if you are referring to the phone call conversion tracking? If yes, to provide insights and to answer your question, then I believe that duplicating offline conversion of click conversion and phone call conversion will not happen to each as they are different types of conversion.

However, validation of duplicate conversion will happen on specific offline conversion types itself. For Upload Click Conversions, if you upload a duplicate conversion (that is, a ClickConversion with a gclid, conversion_date_time, and conversion_action that was previously uploaded), a CLICK_CONVERSION_ALREADY_EXISTS error is returned. If a single request contains multiple operations for the same conversion, a DUPLICATE_CLICK_CONVERSION_IN_REQUEST error is returned.

As for the Upload Call Conversions, if you upload duplicate conversions (that is, a CallConversion with a caller_id, conversion_date_time, and conversion_action that was previously uploaded), a CALL_CONVERSION_ALREADY_EXISTS error is returned. If a single request contains multiple operations for the same conversion, a DUPLICATE_CALL_CONVERSION_IN_REQUEST error is returned.

Let me know if you have further questions.
