Call Ad Final and Verification URL

Good day,

I just want to verify whether the final URL is used to validate the phone number if the verification URL is not provided. Or does it not verify the phone number at all? 

Also, I would appreciate it if you can provide additional information on how exactly the Call Ad gets verified.

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

The final URL is not use to validate the phone number. If you want verify phone number, you can use phone_number_verification_url. The API request will be going to fail when the final and verification URLs did not have the same domain.The domain based on what is entered into Final URL (if provided), or Verification URL (if Final URL is not provided).

Thank you for your response. Does this mean that if there's no verification URL provided (only the final URL), Google Ads will not verify the provided phone number but it will still allow it to serve?

Kindly note that the field phone_number_verification_url is not mandatory while creating Call Ad using the CallAdInfo in the Google Ads API. When you enter your verification URL, which can be the landing page URL for your business, that's only to verify your ad and phone number. It will not be directly displayed on your ad. To create ads that allow both clicks to call and clicks to your website, you can provide a Final URL which will add a secondary link on your Call Ad that will take users to the landing page you specify. For more information on the Call ad requirements, you may refer to this product support article. However, for its serving criteria, you may reach out to the Google Ads Product support team, via this link.
